Danny Murphy isn’t convinced Jarrod Bowen would appease Liverpool fans if the Reds made a move for the West Ham forward.
Bowen has scored three goals this season with David Moyes’ Hammers enjoying an impressive start to the campaign and his displays have seen him tentatively linked with a move to Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp has also praised the 24-year-old, but any conversation about Liverpool making a move for him seems premature at this point.
The rumors have left the former Red Murphy ‘shocked’ and he does not think ‘he would be a suitable replacement for Mohamed Salah if he left.
The Egyptian has made it clear that he wants to stay at Anfield, but has yet to sign a new deal beyond its current terms that expire in 2023 and could still be tempted to move abroad.
‘If you’re looking to win Champions Leagues and Premier Leagues every year, I’m still not sure, maybe he (Jarrod Bowen) could get to that level, we’ll just have to wait and see,’ ‘Murphy told MyBettingSites.

‘I have to say that the recruitment in Liverpool has been really good.
‘I heard those rumors and I was a bit surprised.
‘I say surprised, not because I don’t like Bowen, I think he adapted well to the Premier League, I think he has shown a great appetite to improve his game and get on that side of West Ham, playing from the right side.
‘I think Liverpool will buy advanced players thinking more in the long term, thinking about Salah’s age, the age of [Sadio] Man.
‘I’d be looking at players who are on par near that level and can go straight in and be good.
‘If you’re talking about Salah leaving, Salah not signing a new contract and someone came in with a lot of money, I think Liverpool fans would be happy if Bowen came in and took his shoes? I would say not “.
