Former Feyenoord player Danny Buijs will join the staff of Feyenoord 1 this week. The ex-trainer of FC Groningen is clubless after his resignation from KV Mechelen earlier this season.
Feyenoord coach Arne Slot and Buijs are acquaintances. In 2018, both coaches were on the KNVB trainers course, together with Kees van Wonderen and Sjors Ultee, among others. He has already made it clear that Buijs Slot has a high opinion. “If you look at what he has lost and how he has fitted in those new players, that deserves a big compliment,” said Buijs earlier this season at FC Rijnmond.
Buijs went through almost his entire youth academy at Feyenoord. He returned in a detour in 2006 and played in red and white until 2009. Whether it will last for a week is still unclear.
