“I was brought up with the idea that food that has not been served or left over should not be thrown away. It was one of my father’s founding principles,” explains Joachim. According to the second son of Queen Margrethe and Prince Henrik, who died in February 2018, this is partly due to the war.
“My father was a war child and knew what food scarcity was, so it was normal for him to eat everything.”
The two-part documentary, which is broadcast on the Danish channel DR1, focuses mainly on Marie. She and chef Timm Vladimir set out to teach students about food waste. The cameras also follow Marie at home. She has been committed to the fight against food waste for years.
