Earlier this week it emerged that Mette Frederiksen, the Prime Minister of Denmark, will move into a new home in a central area of Copenhagen.
Until this spring, she lived in Hareskovby on the outskirts of the Danish capital, but is now giving up suburban life in favor of the city centre.
However, the relocation plans are not met with undivided enthusiasm in the neighborhood, writes Dagbladet’s Danish co-operation newspaper BT.
Mette Frederiksen opens up about her mother
– Run over by security personnel
They have spoken to Hans, one of Frederiksen’s future neighbours, who goes so far as to describe the move as “reckless”.
– She is going to cause so much commotion in our peaceful street. We are going to be run over by security personnel, he says to BT.
The newspaper has neither identified him nor the neighborhood where Frederiksen will now live following a recommendation from the Prime Minister’s office, which is concerned about her safety if the address becomes public knowledge.
Hans has lived in the area for ten years. Now it may be coming to an end.
– I don’t want to move, but I fear that will be the consequence. This will destroy everything, he tells BT.
Will not comment
Avisa has also spoken to other residents, who agree with him.
– We don’t want a big, permanent police car here, constant surveillance, diplomatic parking and plainclothes police officers with earplugs on every street corner, says Clara.
The Prime Minister’s office informs BT that Mette Frederiksen has no comment on the neighbours’ reactions.
