Jonathan Christie defeated Malaysia’s Leong Junhao in his first match at Denmark Open 2024. Jonathan won two straight games to qualify for the round of 16.
In the match on Field 2 Jyske Bank Arena, Wednesday afternoon (16/10) WIB, Eoin won with a score of 21-16, 21-14. This result helped avenge Jonathan’s loss to Leong Junhao in the first round of the Indonesia Open last May.
Jonathan started slowly. After winning the first point, Jonathan trailed 1-4 and 8-10 before the break. Jonathan then got up after winning the other four points.

Leong Junhao was close at 11-12, but Jonathan pulled away again after scoring four points in a row. Leon Junhao managed to catch Jonathan to tie the game 16-16.

In the second game, Jonathan took control of the game immediately. Jonathan was ahead 5-1 against Leon Junhao and 11-8 in the second interval.
Jonathan scored four points in a row, leaving his opponent in a position of 15-9. Jonathan showed strong defense to outlast Leong Junhao and increase the score to 18-13.
Leon Junhao then grabbed a point, and Jonathan responded by scoring three points to end the game. Jonathan will face Chinese badminton player Lu Guang Zu in the race for a ticket to the last eight Denmark Open 2024.
