A new study from the Statens Serum Institut (SSI), Denmark’s response to the National Institute of Public Health, shows that the risk of hospitalization is halved by omicron compared with delta.
This has given the Danish authorities the belief that the pandemic is coming to an end in our neighboring country.

To Danish TV 2 says director Tyra Grove Krause that this may mean that life returns to normal in March.
– I think so, it will have us for the next two months, so I hope we get our normal lives back.
She thinks the next two months can be very demanding, with a lot of infection. Denmark is characterized by a strong wave of infections, with up to 10,000 daily infections.
Krause believes that the omicron variant will then provide good immunity in the population.
– Omikron will peak at the end of January, and in February we will see a declining infection pressure and a decreasing pressure on the health care system. But we will make an effort in January, because it will be a tough month to get through, she says.
