Jens Honing – Conceptual Artist

Honing was to replicate his earlier work, which compared the annual income of residents from Denmark and Austria.
The Kunsten Museum of Contemporary Art in Denmark paid 534,000 kroons (about 2.2 million hryvnyas) to the conceptual artist Jens Honing, but he decided not to carry out the promised work, but just keep the money for himself. At the same time, he called his decision “a work of art”. About it writes Bloomberg.
Honing reportedly took the money to recreate his earlier work in the museum, which consisted of two glass frames filled with banknotes – Danish kroner and euro – and reflecting annual income in Denmark and Austria, respectively. But in the end, the artist sent a box with the work to the museum, which lacked 534 thousand crowns. For his part, Honing stated that this is his work, which he renamed Take the Money And Run (Take the money and run).
“The work of art is that I took their money,” explained Jens Honing.
Kunsten believes that the artist should return 534,000 crowns, but he refuses.
The museum is considering filing a complaint with the police.
