“Daniil Medvedev Gets Djokovic Treatment as Crowd Boos Him at Monte Carlo Masters”

Daniil Medvedev got the Novak Djokovic treatment after the crowd booed him at the Monte Carlo Masters for arguing with the referee over a ball mark on clay. The Russian lost the first set 3-6 to Alexander Zverev and showed his frustration when his German opponent came back to level the second 5-5.

Djokovic, the number one seed, was also booed earlier in the day on Thursday when he argued with the chair umpire during his third-round loss to Lorenzo Musetti. Mevedev led 3-1 at the start of the second set but showed his frustration when Zverev returned to the charge and his German opponent added grist to his opponent’s mill by celebrating a lucky shot at the net.

As Zverev came back in the second set, Medvedev showed his aggression by first sending balls against the billboards. As the German made it 5-5, Mevedev was booed by the crowd as he argued with the referee about a line of play decision. The Russian won the second set 7-5 and joked with the public about his past behavior.
