Russian Daniil Medvedev lost first place in the championship race of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, who won the Masters series tournament in Madrid. New version of the rating published on the ATP website.
Alcaraz defeated the German Jan-Lennard Struff in the final of the tournament in Madrid with a score of 6:4, 3:6, 6:3. The Spaniard was ahead of Medvedev in the ranking by 110 points.
Medvedev has been leading the race since early April, after winning the Masters in Miami (Florida, USA).
The top 10 races include Andrey Rublev (sixth) and Karen Khachanov (eighth).
The championship race reveals the best tennis players of the season to determine the composition of the participants in the Final Tournament, where the top eight will perform.
The Russian tennis player immediately climbed 68 positions in the world rankings
