Daniëlle Oerlemans has been asked twice in the past to participate in the reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, but declined the offer both times. That tells the former cyclist and presenter Het Parool.
Participating in such a program is not for her, says Oerlemans in the interview. “A reality series like that has to suit you, with all those arguments being invented,” she says. “And then Reinout has to come in too, while we are followed by cameras all day long. Can you already see that?”
With her husband Reinout Oerlemans and their four children she currently lives in the United States, where she is engaged in the renovation of their homes in Los Angeles and Amsterdam.
Although she has presented several programs after her sports career, she has no plans to return to television. “You may never say never, but in principle not, I leave that to my husband”, said Oerlemans. “I have also come to realize that renovating and creating makes me much happier. I learned a lot from that, because Reinout always threw me in the deep end and gave me a lot of confidence.”
“On the other hand, I become insecure and self-aware when I am in front of the camera. You have to have a thick skin in front of TV and presenting is really a profession.
