Danielle Fishel, known as Topanga in the comedy series ‘Boy meet world’, has breast cancer. The 43-year-old American actress has opened up about her diagnosis to raise awareness of the condition.
Fishel said in the podcast Pod meets the world for the first time about the medical news she received recently.
The tumor was discovered during the annual population survey to which Fishel was invited. The mammogram showed she was dealing with early stage breast cancer. Fishel will be undergoing surgery soon and doctors expect her to make a full recovery.

Fishing included Pod meets the worldpresented by her former colleagues Rider Strong and Will Friedle, admits she had doubts about sharing her medical news with the world. She decided to come clean and make women aware of the importance of breast examination.
“The only reason my prognosis is so favorable is: I was there on time,” she confides in the audience. “Make that post for the population survey. I know how easy it is to put off or forget: you are often busy enough with work and family. But let my case be an example.”
