A robbery that resulted in murder – for a pair of headphones worth just under 15 euros – and two families destroyed. Daniele Rezza, 19 years old, repeats the confession made before the investigators of the murder of Manuel Mastropasqua during the interrogation before the judge for preliminary investigations Domenico Santoro from Milan. In the minutes he states that he went out on Thursday night because he was “nervous”, that he brought with him “a kitchen knife that he had stuck inside his trousers” and that he met a stranger along Viale Romagna in Rozzano, a municipality on the outskirts of Milan. That young man, 31 years old, was on the phone with his girlfriend and had finished his work shift. Resist Rezza’s request to “give him something” he gets his headphones ripped off. When attempting to resist the robbery, the 19-year-old reacts and stabs him in the chest, then runs away and, before returning home, disposes of the bloody knife in the street, in the Via Cabrini area.
Only in the morning does he confess the murder and his decision to his father (in disbelief). flee abroad. A version that today, assisted by the lawyer Maurizio Ferrari (the defender has withdrawn the mandate), repeats. The plan, however, did not come to fruition: Rezza, accompanied by his father to the station, was arrested on Saturday by the Polfer in Alessandria, approximately 36 hours after a crime of impulse for headphones “costing only 14 euros” as underlined in the arrest decree . To the officers, who stop him for a routine check, he confesses to the aggravated murder and if there is still no trace of the switchblade used against Mastrapasqua, the miserable loot was returned to the investigators.
“I ruined two families,” Rezza said to the lawyer who gave up. “When I passed that man in the dark, I thought about robbing him.” . The lawyer, who “for personal reasons” renounced the mandate, said that “Rezza explained everything in detail for an hour and a half”, adding however that “he did not provide any reason for his sudden idea of robbing the 31-year-old” . The lawyer, at the end of the interrogation, reported that the 19-year-old explained that he had drunk a lot in the late afternoon of Friday. “He has not smoked cannabis, although he is a regular user“he added.
Summing up the reconstruction of his client, the young man, now in San Vittore and awaiting the decision of the investigating judge, the following morning “said and did not tell his parents, who did not believe him also because in the past he had told facts” which then he himself had admitted that they had never happened. He also reiterated that when the news was not yet public, the father threw the headphones and that he “he didn’t think he had killed him. I didn’t see any blood, I didn’t see him fall“. Also because the body was “in a different point from where the fight occurred”. “I saw Daniele Rezza on Friday afternoon for tomorrow’s trial before the juvenile court – he continued –: I saw him feeling distressed, upset, but he said nothing to me”. The next day, accompanied by his father to the Pieve Emanuele station, he was stopped in Alessandria. The defender ruled out wanting to flee given that he had a few euros in his pocket and didn’t have any spare clothing. “He started causing problems at home just over two years ago – continued the lawyer -. The parents realized that he would have to follow a path he had never begun”, even if, due to a problem he has, he has been taking the drugs “consistently” since the summer of 2022.
