Daniel Ståhl Dominates at Team Championship in Sollentuna: Results and Highlights

08 JULY 2023 | 1:08 | ANNA-LENA PETTERSON

One of the world stars on site at the final of the Team Championship in Sollentuna was Daniel Ståhl. He thrives on Sollentunavallen and almost touched the 70-meter line. There were also good results in the ladies’ long jump.

There was stardom in the discus competition where we had Daniel Ståhl in the starting list, and of course we got a result close to 70 meters. After a couple of questionable throws in the first two rounds, Spårvägen’s Daniel Ståhl applied the technique and power and won the discus with 69.80. In doing so, he secured his ninth straight victory in the Team Championship. Simon Pettersson, who throws for Hässelby, held second place throughout the competition. His first throw measured 63.49 and was his longest in the competition. Third was Wictor Petersson from Malmö AI, who earlier in the day took home the victory in the shot put competition. His best result was 54.22.

It was a winning result of 2.03 for Hässelby SK’s Elliot Duvert and Mölndals AIK’s Joakim Wadstein in the height competition. It was a duel to the end and both managed 2.03 but neither managed 2.06. They simply tied for first place. Third was Örgryte’s Fredrik Sangberg.

Kaiza Karlén won the long jump in 6.30

In the end, we got four women over six meters in the long jump: Jenny Lestander from Örgryte IS, Kaiza Karlén from IF Göta Karlstad, Karolina Svensson from Upsala IF and Katharina Gråman from Spårvägen, who we could previously see in the three-step competition.

Before the fifth round, Kaiza Karlén led in 6.23 ahead of Karolina Svensson in 6.17. It was then Kaiza Karlén who managed to improve in the last round and jumped the competition’s longest jump, 6.30 and maximum points to IF Göta Karlstad. Karolina Svensson came second and Katharina Gråman third in 6.17 and 6.15 respectively.

Fight for victory in both 200-meter races

When it was time for the men’s 200 meter race, it was an even run through the curve, and in the race it was between Emil Johansson from Tureberg and Desmond Rogo from Upsala IF. Emil Johansson won with a new personal record of 21.13 and Desmond Rogo was second in 21.18. Third came Joel Groth from Spårvägen in 21.42.

It was tight between first and second also in the women’s 200 meters. It was between Julia Henriksson from Malmö AI and Lisa Lilja from Örgryte IS. Julia Henriksson won in 23.63 ahead of Lisa Lilja in 23.75. Third came Irene Ekelund from IF Göta Karlstad in 24.78.
