Daniel Royer has to leave New York Red Bulls – 12th man

the New York Red Bulls today announced some – as usual in US sport – “Roster Decisions”. Of these too is Daniel Royer affected. The 31-year-old was not given the option to extend his contract.

Royer moved from FC Midtjylland to New York. There he has always been considered a top performer in recent years. The offensive player played a total of 156 competitive games for the Red Bulls, in which he scored 50 goals and contributed 19 assists. In the past MLS season, however, he was repeatedly thrown back by injuries, which is why he was under coach in 2021 Gerhard Struber only played 15 games in the league.

On Twitter, Royer’s ex-club thanked him with a video for his appearances in the New York jersey. Even Jesse March, who worked for the Red Bulls from 2015 to 2018, wrote a few words on Twitter to the six-time ÖFB team player: “I also have to say thank you Danny! An unbelievable young man who gave everything for the team during our time together in NY! ”
