Daniel Radcliffe, best known for his role in and as Harry Potter, was secretly in love with a colleague. He even wrote the much older actress a love note. “If only I had been born ten years earlier.”

To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the first Harry Potter film, protagonists Daniel Radcliffe (32), Emma Watson (31) and Rupert Grint (33) spoke candidly about the ins and outs of the world-famous franchise. “I feel so lucky to be where I am in life and living the life I have now. None of this would have been possible without Harry Potter. It was ten wonderful years,” said Radcliffe, who debuted as a young wizard in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone. Watson was just 11 when the first movie came out. Radcliffe was 12 and Grint was 13.

Radcliffe also made a striking revelation. He said that during the filming of the films he fell in love with Helena Bonham Carter, now 55, who played the role of the witch Bellatrix Lestrange in the films. Radcliffe also read out a note he once wrote to the actress. “Dearest HBC, it was a pleasure to be your co-star and also coaster as I always held your coffee. I really love you and I wish I had been born ten years earlier so I might have a chance with you.”
