President Daniel Ortega highlighted the resistance of the Cuban Revolution to imperial attacks and mentioned other similar processes such as those in Nicaragua and Venezuela.
During a speech last night on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the founding of the Nicaraguan Army Naval Force, the president recalled that the Revolution of the Caribbean nation moved all of Latin America.
In his speech, in which he recalled the 98th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro and the 94th anniversary of that of Tomás Borge, Ortega pointed out that the Sandinista Popular Revolution came to stay.
“Revolutions that completely broke the power structures that had been entrenched here, those that imposed the doctrine that said America for the Americans, that is, America for the Yankees,” he said.
The dignitary highlighted the heroism of the people of that South American nation and of Chavez, who practiced the Christian principle of loving your neighbor as yourself.
“He put it into practice in favor of the poor, the unprotected, in the countries that were the most impoverished in Our America, there was Commander Hugo Chávez,” he said.
The head of state referred to the current situation in Venezuela following the recent elections held there and reiterated that Nicolás Maduro is the president elected by the people with their votes.
“They have now installed a coup where everything that is technological modernity that should serve for good and not for evil is manipulated,” said Ortega, referring to the Venezuelan opposition and fascist groups that tried to destabilize that country.
“But we are sure that Commander Chavez is there, accompanying the people, accompanying Nicolas, who will be the winners, they are the winners,” he stressed.
