The ex-Mister Covid-19 of the Confederation is a retired who does not unemployment. He gave a great interview to Look, in which he somewhat scratched the Federal Council.
Regarding the obligation to wear a mask in public transport, he admits to being skeptical about the chosen time. “The Federal Council should have made masks mandatory earlier when public transport is restarted.” Nevertheless, he considers it a wise decision. “The decisive factor was that the public understood the issue.”
Isn’t the former director of the “Communicable Diseases” division at the Federal Office of Health (FOPH) contradicting himself with what was said at the start of the pandemic in Switzerland? He kept repeating that the masks were not useful for the general population. “The question of the mask has been overrated from the start. It is more important to keep your distance than to wear a mask. And wearing a mask tends to make you forget about respecting distances. In retrospect, I would communicate in exactly the same way. ”
School closure not imperative
Daniel Koch once again affirmed that “the closing of the schools was not necessary from an epidemiological point of view”. He recalls that “from the start, it has been said that children are not the main vectors of the epidemic.” However, this decision made it possible to make people aware of the importance of keeping their distance, to give up traveling and family celebrations.
As for the increase in cases of infection in recent weeks, the former Mr. Covid-19 said he was not worried for the moment. “But in fall and winter the risk of a second wave will increase. We need to take advantage of the summer to make the necessary preparations and set the processes in motion to deal with them, ”he warns.
