Like the chambers of trade and crafts in France, the chambers of commerce and industry are facing a drop in their resources of 25 million euros planned in the PLF (finance bill) 2024 The budget provides for a reduction, by 2027, of 100 million euros. The text will have to be examined in the Senate from November 23.

As a senator, when we see the attitude of the State on this subject, we ask ourselves the question how the government sees the future of consular chambers and above all what is its line of action in this sense.”

“We have clearly seen, for several years, two trends: one which considers that the CCIs are of no use and that they must be eliminated, and another which considers that we must let them continue a little more while cutting back on their means of survival, believes Daniel Guéret. You have to know what you want! In the meantime, the consular chambers are taking decisions with a long-term vision. Uncertainties are setting in, but no decision is made. This leads to the destabilization of consular organizations. I contacted my colleagues in economic affairs to find out whether the CCIs are useful or not. And if I do not have an answer, I plan to ask an oral question to the minister. Like Agirc- Arrco, in France, we are attacking organizations which manage public money well and which carry out decisive actions for our economy.”
