Daniel Barco is appointed as vice minister of Economy of the MEF

Daniel Barco has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad Pacífico, a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Economic Research from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) appointed Daniel Barco Rondán as Vice Minister of Economy, replacing Juan Pichihua Serna, who is thanked for the services provided.

Deputy Minister Barco has a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Universidad Pacífico, a Master’s degree in Economics from the London School of Economics and Political Science, and a Certificate of Advanced Studies in International Economic Research from the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany.

Until his appointment, he served as Senior Economist in the Macroeconomics, Trade and Investment Global Practice at the World Bank. He is an expert in macroeconomic projection and analysis, labor market, decentralization, fiscal policy, informality and economic growth.

Likewise, he has been head of Real Sector Policies at the Central Reserve Bank of Peru (BCRP) and deputy manager of Economic Studies at Banco BBVA Continental.

He has also developed university teaching in macroeconomics, public economics, international economics and microeconomics. He has participated in various publications and articles, among which Peru: Systematic diagnosis of the country, update; Rethinking the Future of Peru: Policy Notes; Peru Public Expenditure Review and Peru Building on Success: Boosting Productivity for Faster Growth.
