Daniel Alves has a request for provisional release denied in Spain

Right-back Daniel Alves had his request for provisional release denied and will remain in prison while the investigation into an alleged sexual assault continues. The decision was confirmed on Tuesday by the Spanish court.

The Brazilian’s legal team filed an appeal on January 30 to have the former Barcelona player released from pre-trial detention after being arrested on January 20.

However, the judge in the case considered that Daniel Alves is at risk of fleeing due to his financial conditions and the fact that he has Brazilian nationality – Brazil does not have extradition agreements with Spain.
