A Brazilian internet troll spread a rumor that soccer star Dani Alves had committed suicide in prison.
A false reputation.
“How cruel can people be?”writes a furious Ney Alves, brother of Dani Alves, on social media.
It was this weekend that a rumor began to spread on social media.
An unconfirmed rumor that convicted rape star Dani Alves, 40, took his own life in prison.
The source of the rumor is said to be a Brazilian tweeter named Paulo Albuquerque. An alleged “journalist” with 13,000 followers on X (what Twitter is now called).
“I have been contacted by information that Dani Alves killed himself”, he signed X on March 9 (Saturday).
It didn’t take long before the rumor took off and spread. Some even, uncritically of the source, pegged it as truth. Then it was just as quickly denied. With all clarity.
“He has already been condemned, isn’t that enough?”
Via social media, Dani Alves’ brother, Ney Alves, went out and hit back against the false information.
“How cruel can people be? He has already been sentenced for the words of a woman who entered a men’s room and did what only he and she knows what it was. He has already been condemned, isn’t that enough?”writes the brother, according to, among other things Brand.
Even Dani Alves’ press spokesman, Acaz Fellenger, has denied the rumour. He is also open to legal action against Paulo Albuquerque.
– The information was published on X without any basis whatsoever. I have spoken to Dani’s lawyer and this irresponsible person should be sued, says Fellenger on Brazilian radio (according to Dailymail).

Dani Alves has been inside for just over a year
The 40-year-old ex-soccer star is currently serving a 4.5-year prison sentence after being convicted of rape last month. The incident occurred in the toilet of a nightclub in Barcelona during the night of December 30, 2022.
Dani Alves has denied the accusations, but he has changed his version several times in the interrogations. He has already served just over a year of the sentence as he was in custody during the legal process until the verdict.
