Al-Marsad newspaper: Clinical nutrition consultant Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Othman revealed the dangers of the keto diet and reducing carbohydrates, as well as the best time to exercise in Ramadan.
Al-Othman said: “We previously warned against the keto diet for weight loss and diabetes, and this diet does not have any support or approval from any medical authority, and it is merely the improvisation of people who care about losing weight and who do not know about the negative effects afterwards.”
He continued: “The keto diet may lead to problems with the brain, nerves, and arteries in the future. Unfortunately, there are people these days who follow a carbohydrate-reducing diet, and it has no global, local, or health approval from the relevant associations.”
Al-Othman added: Sports during Ramadan can be practiced at any appropriate time, and there is no evidence that exercise before breakfast is better, and patients with diabetes and high blood pressure are advised not to exercise before breakfast.
