– Stay inside! There is no reason to risk life and health to save material values.

This is what operations manager Knut Odde in the Agder police district says to VG. He refers to the storm Babet which is ravaging Southern Norway and up the coast.

He also points the finger at spectacle-seekers and adventure-seekers, and those who want to get close to the coast to save their belongings.

– There were three boats struggling in Justvik harbour. The fire department has a fairly large boat that was deployed to try and secure them, but it was actually useless. There is therefore no reason for the southerners to visit the coast until it has calmed down.

We need pictures from the South, but DO NOT sacrifice life and health to get it! Send to 2200@vg.no

Earlier in the night, he was mobbed by people who told of trees being blown over and laying across roads.

– There are good opportunities to secure winter wood down here, he says jokingly, but quickly turns serious.

– Fortunately, there have been no serious accidents.

Earlier in the night to Saturday, the message was clear that motorists who are out on the roads must show great care as some of the trees may suddenly come on.

Our neighboring countries are also severely affected. A ferry with 583 passengers was left out in the sea from Fredrikshavn waiting to sail in. Reason? A cargo ship over 300 meters long had broken loose from its moorings. Around 03 o’clock, however, the ferry made it to shore.

Also in Scania in Sweden, wind and water volumes lead. South Sweden has spoken to Ingrdi Blom Cullberg, who is afraid that the waves and water will swallow her house.

– It is catastrophic. Hour by hour we have seen how the waves got higher and higher, she said on Friday evening.
