“Lebanon Debate”
It seems that all things are permissible in Lebanon, even playing with the patient’s health has become a normal matter, and with “Lebanon Debate” having previously mentioned and several times about the entry of counterfeit medicines into Lebanon from several sources, we have not noticed any movement by those concerned to reduce this dangerous phenomenon that Sometimes it leads to the death of the patient.
However, today, according to “Lebanon Debate” information, there are products registered in the Ministry of Health that are dispensed to the Lebanese patient, even though they were withdrawn from the Saudi market after it became clear that the manufacturers did not adhere to applying the required standards, so what are the details?
In this context, the former head of the Syndicate of Pharmacists in Lebanon, George Saili, confirmed to “Lebanon Debate” that “the Food and Drug General Authority in Saudi Arabia, which is the body that monitors all medicines that enter Saudi Arabia, and decides whether these products can enter its country or not, After ensuring its safety and quality.”
He pointed out, “When the file was submitted to Saudi Arabia, they sent a mission to examine the laboratory, which is called (LES LABORATOIRES MEDIS) and its center is in Tunisia. When examining it, it became clear to them that it did not comply with the required specifications.”
Accordingly, Saudi Arabia decided to withdraw all types of laboratory products, and it was banned as a laboratory and not just as medicines.
Saili revealed, “The person who brought these products into Lebanon is a former head of the Syndicate of Pharmacists. He brought the laboratory into Lebanon more than 15 years ago, considering that he is the agent of this laboratory in Lebanon, and in turn the Ministry of Health introduced all of its products.”
He pointed out that “there is a list of medicines registered in the Ministry of Health, and there are even medicines that are not registered on the Ministry’s website. This means that they are entered with the signature of the Minister of Health under the pretext of emergency import.”
He stressed that “these medicines do not meet public safety, and they pose a great danger to the health system and to the Lebanese patient. However, they constitute direct speculation to the national industry, which is considered good.”
Saili said, “If the Ministry of Health did not know about this matter, today it has knowledge. Therefore, we demand that Lebanon become a central laboratory for examining medicines, and preventing the entry of products into the Lebanese market that do not meet the conditions.”
He revealed that “the medicines manufactured by this laboratory are diverse, some of which are related to blood flow, cancer, blood pressure, and others,” revealing that “they are invading the local Lebanese market.”
