A large fire was raging in several homes on Acacialaan in the Zeeland village of Bruinisse on Sunday evening. The block of houses has been evacuated. There are fireworks in one of the houses. The fire brigade therefore stopped extinguishing the fire at the request of the police.
No people or pets have been injured so far. Residents are welcomed in the De Vanger village hall.
Around 4:30 p.m., the fire brigade responded to a blazing fire in a house on Acacialaan in the village in the municipality of Schouwen-Duiveland.
The flames soon spread to the upper floors of two other houses. The fire brigade used four fire engines, a water tanker and an aerial platform to extinguish the fire. The fire was scaled up to a ‘major fire’.
The fire produces a lot of smoke. “Therefore, for your own safety, keep your distance. This also gives the emergency services space to do their work,” the safety region reports.
Earlier this week, the police in Alphen aan den Rijn seized 44 kilos of illegal fireworks. That was also stored in a house, in the bedroom of a young child.
