The professor of critical care medicine explained that cholesterol is divided into two types:
Good cholesterol HDL: The body relies on it to produce a group of important hormones.
LDL cholesterol: It poses a great danger to the health of the body, if its blood levels rise above the normal rate.
He added that the danger of harmful cholesterol lies in the possibility that it will lead to narrowing of the arteries, if it is deposited in their inner walls, which prevents oxygen-laden blood from flowing to the vital organs.

Muwafi pointed out the importance of measuring cholesterol in the blood periodically, especially after the age of forty, because the symptoms of high cholesterol do not appear on the patient except when it causes blockage of the arteries.
He stressed that the normal rate of total cholesterol should not exceed 200 mg / dL.
