Dangerous crossing in Vehlovice: Is there a chance that the fast cars will monitor the radar?

The dangerous crossing in Vehlovice will probably be under radar control Video: Alena Hedvíková

/PHOTO, VIDEO/ Getting from one side of the road to the other is quite dangerous in Vehlovice. Thousands of cars pass through the neighborhood every day. The transit road connecting Mělník and Česká Lípa passes through here. According to the findings of the Journal, it cannot be said that the drivers respect the maximum permitted speed. For several years now, cars have been supposed to be guided by a speed indicator. But that is not enough.

The section Mělník – Zahrádky with road I/9 is marked with the highest level on the risk map. Thousands of cars, including trucks, pass through here every day.

According to Vladimír Petržíla from Vehlovice, the part of the road near the crossing where the bus stops are located is especially dangerous. “We have been trying for a long time to have a radar in the village that will penalize unruly drivers. We are primarily concerned with safety. Children come here to catch the bus every day,” Petržíla told Deník.

During the meeting of the city management with the citizens of the Vehlovice district, which took place at the beginning of this year, several people drew attention to the impending danger. “The reality is that many drivers do not really follow the speed limit here. Based on this initiative, a project was drawn up to place a section radar in this location and a permit was negotiated,” said transport councilor Jindřich Špergl (not behind TOP 09).

The proposal must still be approved by the council. “I will personally propose and support the placement of the radar in this place, but I will not prejudge what other colleagues in the council will decide,” noted Špergl.

If the council supports the new radar, it will be necessary to increase the personnel capacity both at the city office and at the city police, which is in charge of these administrative processes.
