A man scaled a 60-story building in San Francisco, California.. Authorities cordoned off the scene and asked people not to come to the area to facilitate the work of firefighters.
“These people are putting the lives of firefighters and the safety of the public at risk.. Please avoid the area and help us condemn this action,” the San Francisco Fire Department said on its Twitter page.
Climbing to the top of the building, without any protection, the man was arrested by the police.a. According to US media, the person was identified as Maison Deschamps, who describes himself as a pro-life spiderman (who fights against abortion) and is also an activist against vaccines and policies to stop COVID-19.
On a break while climbing the building, the young man posted a video on his Instagram account denouncing a doctor in Washington who had allegedly performed abortions at his clinic. And he also asked that they donate money to help in the fight against abortion in the US.
According to US media, Deschamps loves outdoor activities and from the age of 16 he began his hobby of climbing. In August 2021, he reportedly scaled the Aria Hotel in Las Vegas, where he lives, to protest COVID-19 mandates.
Besides, the Chief Justice of the United States, John Roberts on Tuesday confirmed the authenticity of a leaked draft opinion that suggests the high court may be on the verge of overturning the landmark Roe v. Wades from 1973 which legalized abortion throughout the country. He ordered an investigation into what he called a “egregious breach of trust”.
In the first public comment from the high court since the draft was released Tuesday night, Roberts said: “Although the document described in yesterday’s reports is authentic, it does not represent a decision of the Court or the final position of any member on the issues in the case.”
In a statement, he said: “To the extent that this betrayal of the Court’s confidences was intended to undermine the integrity of our operations, it will not succeed.”
He added: “I have ordered the Court Marshal to launch an investigation into the source of the leak.”
