When you hear the cinema, you think of movies, popcorn and relaxing hours with your loved ones. Such moments will continue to be possible at Spreekino Spremberg. But managing director Michael Apel has more plans. He wants to establish the cinema as an event center. Concerts, cabaret evenings and readings will take place here in the future, but there will also be opportunities for family and company celebrations and conferences. Born in Cottbus, he has a lot of experience in various cultural areas and describes himself as a former theater nomad. With his concept of expanding the Spremberg cinema into a multifunctional event location, he wants to revitalize the cultural life in Spremberg.
Conferences and Christmas parties in the cinema?
»Cinemas are usually visited in the afternoon or in the evening, while the halls are usually empty in the mornings. That is why we are currently investing in conference technology so that seminars and conferences can take place here in the future, ”explains Apel. The Spreekino should therefore also be able to be used as an event location for company celebrations. »Why not have a company Christmas party in the cinema? First enjoy a concert or the company’s latest corporate film on the big screen, then maybe a brunch in the adjoining hotel and, last but not least, a party in the foyer with live music or a DJ «, advertises the managing director.
Family celebrations and dance events
The Spreekino is also set to become a popular address for private occasions in the future. “For example, we have the option of digitizing old cine films in order to project historical family photos onto our screens,” says Apel. On the parking deck of the City Center Spremberg, right next to the cinema, there could be enough space for wedding buffets or special seating for evening dinners. The Spreekino also wants to be a new address for retirees. A coffee in company and then swing the dance floor. All of this should be possible there soon. Michael Apel is certain: “The Spreekino as an event center will be the new specialty in the Spremberg region.”

The Spreekino Spremberg has four air-conditioned cinema halls of different sizes that can accommodate a total of 500 people. The most modern projectors, professional sound systems and new, comfortable cinema seats have already been installed.
