“There are times when we’re just doing so many other things. For example, social media for so many different platforms. These things are secondary, but important,” says the 32-year-old. The duo keeps their fans up to date on Instagram, TikTok, X or Snapchat, and shares some private snapshots there in addition to the music. “We always have to consciously make time for the music,” emphasised the 32-year-old.
She has been performing as a duo with Tucker Halpern for ten years now; her first self-written song, “Drinkee,” became an instant hit and made her world famous. Times have changed now. “I think so much has changed in the music industry since we started. The way people find music, the way it’s marketed. I think you just adapt,” said duo partner Halpern.
Despite the changes in the industry, neither of them is afraid of the future. It is not a good use of energy to worry too much about the future, says Hawley-Weld. “I think the best use of my energy is to focus on doing the best we can do now.”
Regarding the new album, Tukker Halpern says: “It’s really exciting to be releasing this album into the world at the end of the summer. Then hopefully we’ll be able to show it to everyone in the world.”
