Dance festival Tomorrowland gives up hope for this year | Abroad

The organizers announce “with a heavy heart” to cancel the festival, which invariably also attracts many Dutch people. They had already postponed the 2021 edition for a month and a half, in the hope that the corona crisis would have been further contained. But the mayors of Boom and Rumst also do not want to host the massive dance at the end of August.

“The whole team fought to the end and did everything in its power,” the organization said. The Belgian and Flemish governments also got involved and tried to change Boom and Rumst’s mind. But to no avail.

Legal battle

The organizers do not want to go to court to force the mayors to issue a permit after all. “Given our long cooperation with the municipalities, we do not want to turn it into a legal battle,” they told news agency Belga.

Tomorrowland, like many other festivals, was also canceled last year due to the corona crisis. But now that the corona virus has also been on the decline in Belgium for months, the organizers were hopeful for this summer.
