Dance and Music Extravaganza at the Borges Cultural Center in September!

During the month of September, the Borges Cultural Center offers a large number of proposals related to dance and music in its wide variety of styles. Dance, in its various genres and forms, will be present through tango dance shows, added to the works that were selected by the Federal Call Situar Danza 2023intended for artists from all over the country.

In addition, on weekends the public will put their bodies in motion to learn to dance and practice tango in the space Tango at the Step, which operates on Saturdays and Sundays from 5 to 7 p.m. And the last Sunday of September will be the monthly meeting to dance milonga. The shows, the classes and the milonga are free of charge.

TANGO TO THE STEPby Milonga El Abrojito
In September, the tango (dance) classes continue at the Borges. Tango at the Step, a meeting place to learn, practice and improve, is designed as a public space for teaching and an anchor point for the dissemination of tango schools and milongas in the country. Each month, a couple of teachers from an Argentine school or milonga will be in charge of giving the classes, which fosters a federal space, as well as being stylistically diverse. Important: No specific type of clothing or footwear is required. The teachers Sofia Cruciani and Agustin Tornaquindici from Milonga El Abrojito will be in charge of the classes.

Sunday September 24 from 5 to 8 pm | Milonga by Milonga El Abrojito in the Tita Merello Hall
Milonga El Abrojito was born with the purpose of developing a milonga without having to travel to the Federal Capital. It is done once a month. In all editions there are live musicians, singers, poets or dancers. The classes and the organization are in charge of Sofia Cruciani and Agustín Tornaquindici.

Tango and jazz will have their space with a large musical program that includes tango orchestras, a jazz cycle with renowned exponents of the genre, the National Contemporary Music Industry Cycle, the concert by Rolando Goldman and friends and a show by Chamamé , among other proposals.

Songs from the jazz repertoire to experience new sounds.
Lucas Goicoechea is an Argentine saxophonist who carried out his career in the City of Buenos Aires. At the age of 8, he began his studies at the Alberto Ginastera Conservatory, and in 2011 he entered the jazz career at the Manuel de Falla Conservatory. During the last few years, he has played with many of the most renowned jazz musicians in Argentina, including Hernán Merlo, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Sergio Verdineli, Ernesto Jodos, Oscar Giunta, among others.

He Mono Fontana He is a pianist, guitarist, drummer and composer. He played and recorded with Luis Alberto Spinetta for 10 years and with various national and international musicians. He is the author of two albums: Ciruelo and Cribas. He currently performs as a soloist, in duets, and in a band. Sergio Verdinelli He is a drummer and began his music studies at the age of 10. In 1991 he took his first steps as a professional musician, forming part of the group Illya Kuriaky and the Valderramas, with whom he continues to collaborate today. He has also collaborated with Juan Carlos Baglieto, Andrés Calamaro, Wayne Krantz, Michael Formanek, Tim Berne, Marilyn Crispelltony Malaby, Mark Helias, Steve Cardenas, Ralph Alessi, Ben Monder, John Hebert, Darryl Jones, Tim Ries and Bernard Fowler among others.

Fer Moreno is a project that oscillates between styles such as jazz, soul and hiphop. Always taking groove and improvisation as a premise within this funk-tinged format. He started playing the drums at the age of 8, leaning mainly towards jazz and blues. During high school he continued playing drums with different groups and learning other instruments such as bass and guitar, probably influenced by his father, who is a bassist and double bassist.

Pedagogical initiative, created in 2000 by the Ministry of Culture of the Government of the City of Buenos Aires and dependent on the General Directorate of Artistic Education, promotes the meeting of different generations of musicians, enabling the transmission of the cultural legacy of the great masters. Students have the opportunity to play the original arrangements of the orchestras of the 40s and 50s, by the hand of the musicians of that time who are still active today and supported by the experience of important musicians of today. The musical direction is in charge of maestro Víctor Lavallén, who was a bandoneon player and arranger of the Osvaldo Pugliese orchestra and founder of the Tango Sextet.
