The death of her father and the dissolution of his apartment set a lot of things in motion for Rosa that she was actually glad had stopped. Because the history of the Jerusher family is a mess of arguments, attempted or successful escapes, longings and disappointed hopes and the vain wish to feel at home somewhere. Now everything is back: the memories of her crazy childhood in the 90s, of the breakdown of her parents’ marriage and the relatives in Israel, but also her missing older sister, with whom she had broken up with for good reason.
The writer Dana von Suffrin reads from her novel “Again from the Beginning”. Powerfully and with great black humor, she tells the story of a German-Jewish family in which an entire century of violence and expulsion continues to have an impact.
