Dana Schweiger speaks for the first time about emigration to the USA: “Emma wanted to distance herself from her fame”

In 2007, Emma Schweiger (19) became a child star with the movie “Keinohrhase”. At that time, the daughter of actor Til Schweiger (58) and model Dana Schweiger (54) was just five years old.

At 14, Emma was already more successful than many other actors – but actually totally unhappy. In an RTL interview, she said in 2015: “I think I’d like to be a little less known and still be able to act. It steals your privacy a bit.”

In 2016, mother and daughter moved to Malibu (USA) for exactly this reason. Only now does Dana speak openly about this difficult time back then.

Dana Schweiger: “It wasn’t that easy”

There was a time when her youngest daughter just wanted to leave, says the 54-year-old in an interview with RTL: “She was asked for autographs in shopping malls. She was still so young that she needed her own development.”

“It was really difficult for me,” admits Dana Schweiger openly. “Emma wanted to go to the American High School and have some distance from her celebrity. That was good for her,” said the entrepreneur, who left the other children in Germany for her youngest: “It wasn’t like that easy for me. I missed my other three monsters, of course.”

Now they all live together again in Hamburg. And Emma became a 19-year-old young woman.
