Dan Karaty, jury member in ‘Belgium’s Got Talent’ and ‘So You Think You Can Dance’, among others, looks back on a period in his life that he now regrets deeply. In ‘LINDA’ he talks candidly about his addiction and how he left the care of his terminally ill son to his partner Tash.
Dan’s son Daniel was only nine months old when he was admitted to hospital. He tells how he used Quinn, his older daughter, as an excuse to stay home and drink a few bottles. “My son could have died, but I made no attempt to stay with him for one night,” he says now. “And can you imagine what would have happened if I had had to go to the hospital in the middle of the night, with Quinn in the car, and my body full of alcohol?”
“Alcohol turned out to be number one in my life and this event is the most poignant example of that.” Meanwhile, Dan has also written a book about his addiction. It appeared on the shelves last March.
