In a segment aired on Saturday, Harris’ colleagues shared some of their favorite memories, noting that it was an “emotional” weekend for the team.
“We are all emotional. We’re all a little bit verklempt, ”said weekend meteorologist Rob Marciano.
“I worked with you the longest time, so I aged well because of it.”
Marciano said he was intimidated by Harris’ experience when they first met.
“You put me at ease right away,” he joked. “Mainly because you were shorter than I expected.”
Host Eva Pilgrim also recounted her first day working with Harris.
“I remember when I started, the very first time I sat next to you on the desk I was so nervous,” she said.
“You said, I’ll never forget, ‘Don’t worry. You are going to be awesome. I won’t let you fail, ”she continued.
“And then we head to the set, the music rolls, and just before we get live the real Dan Harris shows up and says, ‘Don’t embarrass me,'” she said.
They also shared some of their favorite Harris moments, including some unforgettable costumes, like when he dressed up as a member of the boy group One Direction as well as a particularly magical Harry Potter costume.
Harris also shared a cute snap with his family on Twitter on Friday as he headed to his final weekend hosting the show.
“Obtain emotional support from the crew, before my last weekend on@GMAhe wrote.
Harris has announced that he will be leaving the series over the summer as he focuses more on his mindfulness and meditation company, Ten Percent Happier.
He founded the company after writing a book in 2014 on meditation and stress reduction.
“Even though I’m a public supporter of work-life balance, if I’m honest, I had a hard time following my own advice,” Harris said of his decision to leave.
“Indeed, I have become an adult here [on ABC News], although some of my co-hosts may dispute that. “
Harris joined the ABC Network in March 2000 from New England Cable News.
Harris has held various positions on the ABC Network, including that of ABC News correspondent and reporting for World News Tonight and Nightline.
