While Bernard Lemaître recently expressed doubts about the future of Dan Biggar in Toulon, the Welsh fly-half clarified his situation and assured that he will be present in Var next season.

Dan Biggar put an end to the various rumors. Arrived in Toulon the day after the World Cup with a two-year contract after having played in the English championship for four seasons at Northampton, the Welsh flyhalf struggles to convince the Var public. With 54 points scored in nine matches, the player with 116 caps for Wales had a debut in La Rade disrupted by a back injury last November on the pitch in Perpignan in his first match under his new colors. Bernard Lemaître did not hesitate to question the 34-year-old’s commitment to the RCT, considering that the latter was taking too long to regain his best level and considering an early departure at the end of the season. A dig to which Dan Biggar did not fail to respond during an interview with the local daily Was-Matin.

Biggar: “I will be in Toulon next year”

The Morriston native clarifies his position and sees his future in the Var club. “ I will be in Toulon next year, I cannot envisage another outcome, he said. I want to stay there as long as possible. I plan to complete my contract and do one more year if possible. » Nevertheless, he admits not to have been the Dan Biggar who shone with the Leek XV for many years. “It wasn’t me and it was all the more frustrating because I was aware of not giving enough to the club. I was at 80%, confided the Welshman in this interview. After the World Cup, there wasn’t a day when I felt good. » The fly-half concedes that the transition between the World Cup with Wales and his debut with Toulon was not optimal, affirming that “ it was a little too early » and having “paid the bill” over the last few months.
