On the last day of the transfer window, Jadon Sancho joined Chelsea on loan with an obligation to buy. Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s sporting director, explained this sale.
In an interview with the English press alongside general manager Omar Berrada, Dan Ashworth, Manchester United’s sporting director, explained why the club agreed to sell Jadon Sancho to Chelsea, on a loan deal with an option to buy. We have four very good wing players, Jadon was the fifth, and that allowed us to make the decision that, if it was right for him and right for us, it was something we were prepared to consider (…) It’s a decision we made, if it’s right for Jadon and right for us, we have to move forward. He wanted to take the Chelsea opportunity, like Scott wanted to take the Napoli opportunity, like Aaron wanted to take the West Ham opportunity. We’re not in a position where we’re kicking players out of the club. »
🔵👋🏻 Dan Ashworth on why Man Utd decided to sell Sancho: “We felt we had enough depth in that particular position to be able to cover it”.
