Jakarta, Selular.ID – The global chipset crisis is reported to have affected the manufacture of the Realme 9 series, Madhav Sheth, as Vice President of Realme as well as CEO of Realme India and Europe said, had held in-depth discussions with chipset makers to reduce the impact of the problem.
As a result, Realme 9 is reported to be launching in 2022. Although affected, Madhav assessed that Realme could still successfully release products in the midst of the chipset crisis.
“Despite the chipset shortage which resulted in the delay of many products from various brands, Realme still managed to launch 8i with the first Helio G96 in India, and the world’s first Realme 8s 5G with Dimensity 810 in our 5G line,” said Madhav.
However, Realme is aware of the chipset crisis that has pushed all brands back, “so our strategy to mitigate the impact of the shortage of chipsets is to explore collaboration with developing chipset makers, to deliver processors with the best value in their segment without compromising performance,” he continued.
Then, Madhav argues, the shortage of global chipsets is the result of several macroeconomic factors. Production suspensions, massive demand in the WFH era as well as logistical disruptions also had a huge impact on the supply chain.
“Because the production and distribution facilities are gradually opening, we estimate that the chipset shortage will follow by 2022,” he said.
In the second quarter of 2021, calculations from the research company Omdia said that the Oppo sub-brand, Realme, also posted impressive performance. Realme’s shipments jumped 174.5 percent to 11.4 million units and achieved a 4% market share. This confirmed their position as the sixth largest smartphone vendor in the world.
In India, Realme is ranked 2nd, and is the no. 1 in the online market. While in Europe, Ralme has become the top 3 in Poland and is targeting top 1 in the next year and a half. In Italy, already in the top 5 in Q2 2021.
