Recently, Damon Lindelof revealed in an interview with Esquire that he had joined the Star Wars universe, but was later asked to leave. Lindelof, who co-created Lost, had teamed up with Justin Britt-Gibson to write a screenplay. However, they had to exit the project in February. Lindelof revealed in an interview with Variety that his axed Star Wars script was a “true labor of love.” The original screenwriters were replaced by Steven Knight, who created “Peaky Blinders,” and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, who is still on board as director. Fans were thrilled to learn that their movie will pick up 15 years after 2019’s Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, featuring the return of Daisy Ridley’s Rey. Lindelof commented that he would definitely return to the Star Wars universe if given the opportunity. For more on the upcoming Star Wars movies, IGN has exclusive interviews with Kathleen Kennedy, Dave Filoni, and Jon Favreau.
