Without a doubt, Damian Lillard stands out as one of the best players of his generation. However, collectively, the leader of the Portland Trail Blazers has a clean record in the NBA. And as it stands, it seems hard to imagine him winning a title.
If his loyalty to the Oregon franchise is generally welcomed, it seems to serve him compared to his trace left in the League. Annoyed by the critics, the Oakland native issued a warning to his detractors.
“They’ll never give me the credit I deserve for what I’ve done. Unless I come here and win a championship with Portland. And they better hope that doesn’t happen. They would. better pray I don’t win a title for the Blazers.
They better pray because they don’t know that side of me,” Damian Lillard said for the Point Forward podcast.
It will take significant changes to allow Portland to aim for the Larry O’Brien Trophy. Currently in 12th place in the Western Conference, the Blazers could struggle to snag the Playoffs, even the Play-In, this season.
With the young people, there is a long-term project in Oregon. It remains to be seen whether this plan will stick with the objectives of Damian Lillard.
