An art theft took place last night at a gallery in the Brabant city center of Oisterwijk. The perpetrators used heavy explosives to enter the building.
The damage to the gallery is extensive. The blast also broke windows at a dozen buildings in the area. The bang could be heard far into the town, he wrote Omroep Brabant.
The front door of the MPV Gallery on Dorpsstraat was blown out and the perpetrators crashed into the gallery, after which they fled in the car.
Unclear loot
It is unclear exactly what was stolen. The police can’t say anything about that yet. “I see a lot of empty spaces on the wall,” says a reporter from Omroep Brabant News NOS Radio 1. “And the floor is full of trash.”
The getaway car was found further away in town, the regional broadcaster writes. The area around the vehicle has been cordoned off due to possible explosives. The art thieves have not yet been found.
