Dak Prescott suffered a hamstring injury in his Cowboys’ loss to the Falcons – and was apparently even placed on the IR list, which would keep him out of action for four weeks.
The embarrassing 9:47 disgrace against the Detroit Lions, two more defeats against the San Francisco 49ers and the Atlanta Falcons, a total of three bitter bankruptcies in a row, overall an indisputable 3:5 record that makes the playoffs a long way off back, and now the leader of America’s Team has also been injured: Things are just not going well for the Dallas Cowboys this season.
On Monday it was announced that the Texas franchise would be without its quarterback for several weeks. Dak Prescott injured his thigh in the Dallas Cowboys’ 21:27 loss to the Atlanta Falcons in the third quarter. An MRI scan ruled out a quick recovery – and the playmaker was reportedly placed on the Injured Reserved List. That would take him out of the game for a guaranteed four weeks.
Dallas Cowboys: Cooper Rush has to step in for Dak Prescott
On the IR list, Prescott, who signed the richest contract in NFL history in the offseason, would miss at least the games against the Philadelphia Eagles, Houston Texans, Washington Commanders and New York Giants. He could only return to action and be taken off the list before the game on December 12th against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Prescott was still confident immediately after the defeat against the Falcons. “I would say I’ll be back next week,” Prescott said. Too optimistic, as it now turns out, even if he relied on his healing meat: “Fortunately I can say that I heal quickly, that I have made rapid progress with injuries and other things, and I am grateful for that.”
In the absence of the highly paid playmaker, Cooper Rush has to step into the breach. He was already used against the Falcons after Prescott’s departure, completed 13 of his 25 passes for 115 yards and one touchdown pass, but was unable to prevent the defeat.
