The Dallas Cowboys have announced that they Wide Receiver Michael Gallup and linebacker Leighton Vander Esch have fired. This decision marks the end of these players’ time in Dallas.
Michael Gallup
Gallup has been a key part of the Cowboys’ offense over the past six seasons. During his time in Dallas, the 28-year-old wide receiver rushed for 3,744 yards and 21 touchdowns on 266 catches. His contribution to the team is evident through his performances and reliability on the field.
The decision to fire Gallup allows the Cowboys to pay $9.5 million Cap Space to save. These savings are necessary to put together a new squad for the coming season.
Leighton Vander Esch
Vander Esch, who also spent six seasons in Dallas, was selected in the first round of the 2018 draft. Although he achieved great success in his rookie year and was even named a Pro Bowler, his final seasons were marred by injuries.
The Cowboys decided to release Vander Esch due to a failed physical. This decision allows the team to save $2.1 million in cap space.
