Dallas Cowboys: Mike McCarthy Fired, Jerry Jones Next?

He previously gave Jason Garrett ample time to prove himself but ultimately decided to move on. It remains to be seen if Jones will take a similar approach this time or opt for a more experienced candidate.
With McCarthy out, the Cowboys will also need to find a new defensive coordinator. Dan Quinn, who served as the defensive coordinator under McCarthy, is now interviewing for head coaching positions with multiple teams. The Cowboys will have to consider whether to promote from within or bring in an outside coordinator.
The coaching staff shakeup indicates that the 2024 season is a make-or-break year for the Cowboys. With quarterback Dak Prescott entering the final year of his contract and set to count $59.4 million against the salary cap, the team faces a crucial decision. They must weigh the importance of signing Prescott to a lucrative extension without proven playoff success against the financial constraints it would impose.
The Cowboys have a lot at stake in the upcoming season. They have the talent and potential to be contenders, but they need the right leadership to guide them to success.
