Dallas Cowboys starting running back Ezekiel Elliott, who missed last week’s game against San Francisco with a calf injury, said he was ready to play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
Elliott didn’t practice last week, but he was hoping to play before his calf hardened the day before the 49ers game.
“I feel so much better than last week,” Elliot said.
“Obviously, with the break last weekend, I feel better. In fact, I’ve practiced a bit this week, I ran in team exercises, so I’m definitely taking the right steps to get ready for Sunday. “
Winning the game against Philadelphia is vital to the Cowboys’ aspirations of making the playoffs.
A loss to the Eagles would rob Dallas of any chance of being in the postseason.
Still, the Cowboys do not control their destiny within the NFC East Division.
Dallas is 5-9 with two games remaining in the regular season.
The East Division of the National Conference is led by the Washington team with a 6-8 record.
A win over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday would give Washington a place in the playoffs and leave the Cowboys eliminated.
“We will not pay attention to what other teams are doing, we will focus on doing that ours, trying to win our game,” said Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy.
If Dallas beats the Eagles and Washington falls to the Panthers, the division ticket will be decided next Sunday in the last game of the season.
On that date, the Cowboys will visit the New York Giants and Washington will visit Philadelphia.
“We’re going to give it our all and let the chips settle into place,” McCarthy said.
