Relatives and loved ones of an El Paso couple are mourning the deaths of Sergio Moriel and Melissa Aguilar, two El Pasoans who lost their lives in an accident caused by suspected drunk drivers in Dallas, Texas.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Sergio Moriel, 31, and his passenger Melissa Aguilar, 27, of El Paso, died on a Dallas highway around 2:30 a.m. Sunday.
According to the Police, a vehicle was immobilized in a lane along the road and was run over by another car, causing a chain reaction accident, killing Aguilar and Moriel.
Three of the drivers involved were intoxicated, according to Dallas authorities.
“Three of those drivers who were involved in the accident were intoxicated and I am also disappointed that it is one of those failures of us as a society. Where people don’t take seriously how dangerous it is to drive while intoxicated, ”said Dallas Deputy Chief Albert Martinez.
Aguilar’s younger sisters, who still live in El Paso, say she was planning to come home for Christmas.
The other victim, Moriel, was from Sweetwater, Texas, and was a veteran of the United States Navy.
The funeral of the passña will take place on December 13 at Mt. Caramel Casa Funeraria, located at 1755 Zaragoza.
Family visits will begin on the dot from 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm and open viewings from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
The rosary will be held that same day at 6:00 pm
For its part, the Mass will take place on December 14 at Mr. Stephen Catholic Church, located at 1700 George Dieter.
