Dali and Picasso. The benefactors of the museum are to become Honorary Citizens of Lublin

The procedure is as follows: Only the president or councilors can apply for honorary citizenship. They, in turn, receive such requests from residents or institutions. – Honorary Citizenship of the City of Lublin is granted by a resolution of the City Council. The candidates received a positive opinion from the Convention of Honorary Distinctions – adds Katarzyna Duma, spokesperson for the Mayor of Lublin and at the same time informs that at the April session the councilors will deal with two draft resolutions. If they accept them, Lublin will have two honorary citizens.

– The artist’s works are in the collections of the National Museums in Lublin, Krakow, Warsaw and Poznań, the Museum of Art in Łódź, the Museum of Modern Art in New York (MoMA), the Louvre, the Victoria and Albert Museum in London – enumerates Duma and adds that Myslowski also has a studio in the Old Town of Lublin.

In 2017, Hochman and Mysłowski donated to the National Museum in Lublin a collection of works of contemporary art from around the world, built over half a century. These are drawings, posters, photographs, documentation, art books, as well as painting and sculpture. Their authors include Kazimierz Malevich, Joseph Beuys, Paul Cézanne or Salvador Dali and Pablo Picasso. – The donation act from 2017 was continued and so far the collection of the National Museum in Lublin has been enriched by a deposit of over a thousand objects – adds the president’s spokesman.

Perhaps the former footballer of Motor Lublin and the Polish national team, Władysław Żmuda, will soon join the group of honorary citizens. There is such an idea, but it was announced to the City Council, omitting the recalled procedure at the beginning.

However, the deputy chairman of the City Council, Marcin Nowak, promises to support this candidacy. – Although I would like it to be a joint initiative of all councilors and the president in the first place. He is such an important figure for Lublin that such actions should be taken – Nowak told us recently.
