Frisco. He quarterback Dallas Cowboys Dak Prescott will likely miss at least four games due to a muscle injury, owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday.
Prescott suffered a hamstring injury in the second half of a 27-21 loss to Atlanta. The Cowboys (3-5) face Philadelphia (6-2), their classic NFC East Division rival, on Sunday, the second of four consecutive games against teams with a positive record.
“It will be for a long period of time,” Jones said when appearing on his radio segment. “I wouldn’t dare give a forecast on when (he would return). We will have to see how his recovery goes.”
Cooper Rush will replace Prescott, just as he did when the Cowboys went 4-1 in 2022 with Prescott out after breaking his thumb in Week 1. Rush also won a game in 2021 after relieving the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2016.
Prescott’s loss is another blow to a season full of setbacks for the Cowboys, immersed in their first three-game losing streak since 2020. Dallas played the last 11 games of that season going 6-10 without Prescott after suffering a fracture in the ankle.
“There’s no doubt that Dak’s injury is a blow,” Jones said. “But we have seen Cooper respond. We know what we need to do, the strategies on offense. We have to respond together game by game, make the most of each of our players.”
