Daisy Barbukova travels the world without a bodyguard

The daughter of the construction entrepreneur with her first solo exhibition in Sofia

A girl asks her father: “What am I, so I can’t be alone?” Then there is a bodyguard next to her. After this question, her family decided – she moved from Sofia to Vienna. And he no longer needs security. “I know that Vienna is for Viennese people, but what choice did I have?”

“It was not difficult for me, I was 12 years old, at which children easily adapt. I accepted it as a positive change. I already spoke English, I found new friends, and mom and dad were always by my side “, remembers Desislava Barbukova – daughter of Vesela and Dimitar Barbukovi. Both her parents then had a successful business in Bulgaria in the field of design, construction, hospitality, real estate management and others.

Desi was just born when

except. Barbukovi

experiencing

great drama

led to the hiring of security guards and the abrupt change of Sofia with the Austrian capital. Barbukov himself spoke only once for details of this story to journalist Anna Zarkova, 14 years later. He shared some things with his wife on Nova TV at that time as well. In 1996, in broad daylight, his son was abducted – the boy is from his first marriage, from which he has a daughter. (She has already done it grandfather – b.r.)

“After he was abducted, my son was taken to Hungary. A passport was prepared for him in advance! They called me to take 2 million there. They spoke to me in Russian. (His wife Vesela, then with a baby in her arms, was the first to receive a call from the kidnappers). I was horrified that the Russian mafia was involved! Helped me Nikolai Dobrev. I stayed in the police for two days, my conversations with the blackmailers were controlled. I was explaining something to one of them and he dropped a word in Bulgarian. They were ours, they were just pretending to be Russians! Eventually, my son was released during a joint operation by our NSCOC and the local police. They kept him in an apartment with an armored door – so strong that they did not dare to blow it up so as not to break the block. They were Bulgarian mobsters who spotted them on the girl who was bringing food to my son. Dobromir told me excitedly: “The police came in like ninjas!”

They also caught her

the three kidnappers

And what happened, guess what? They released them on bail. The case dragged on for years. But God knows his work. I know that two of them are no longer alive! And the rescuers? They were fired during a purge in the police … Now we are working with Dobromir, we are building, ”Barbukov told the famous journalist at the time. “Dobromir showed a great psyche. He is a male boy, he overcame all this very heroically “, Barbukova also commented.

Then they decide that their children should not live in Bulgaria and that they should be afraid every day. “I want them to be modern, creative, open and different,” said Vesela. Old stories are not commented on at home. The family has another daughter.

“I am glad that my parents chose Vienna. They love operas, theaters, we are happy there. They continue their business as always. My sister Anastasia has grown up, she is already 16 years old, for her the adventures, the life are just beginning. Mom and Dad and I are very close. I can share everything with them “, the young woman is frank.

Now that Desislava is 25, a confident young lady,

a PR graduate,

media and communications

in Oxford,

with friends all over the world, and life in London teaches her to be independent. And now it’s Daisy. Her classmates at Vienna Internationale School, a college of the United Nations Mission, find it difficult to pronounce her name. She was christened Desi-Daisy, and in the end only the English word for the beautiful daisy flower remained. It can be said that her interest in painting ignited Stavri Kalinov. “I have loved his art since I was a child. Mom has several of his works at home. A unique artist, sculptor, artist with charisma, who lives for his art “, Desi says about Kalinov.

Her parents support her artistic talent, but her mother Vesela delicately advises her to study marketing. In this profession, painting can also be useful. The eldest daughter already works in an advertising house. “Around the world, this is a respected and well-paid profession, which allows me to rely on myself and support myself,” says Desi-Daisy. During the pandemic, she worked mostly online. That leaves her time to return to the tripod and the brushes. He defines himself as a social person, likes to communicate, to have an organized day.
